Heidi's Space
This area is for comments for Heidi, her ideas, suggestions etc.
My goals for myself include:
1. To quit smoking. Tomorrow 3/31 is The Great American SmokeOut... So, I would appreciate any advice and/or prayers in that regard. I'm scared that quitting will cause me to gain even more weight.
2. To start exercising everyday. I have a friend who is going to help me start jogging, and I am very excited about that. I have always wanted to be a jogger. Plus, I have a treadmill and a brand new pilates dvd that I also plan to start using.
3. To lose at least 1-2 pounds a week. More would be better... but, I'm struggling to balance my need to be realistic against my generally impatient personality.
4. Longterm goal: To wear a size 6. Why? Because my overall size and the way I feel in my clothes matters more to me than the # on my scales.
5. To start and continue leading a healthier lifestyle. To be more active, have more energy, and be all-around healthier.
Comments from Heidi:
I wanted to share this. I've added a weight loss ticker to my space, and I am hopeful that it will prove to be a wonderfully motivational tool.
To design your own, go to: http://www.3fatchicks.net/index1.php
Just follow the few simple steps, and TA-DA! You can create your own personalized ticker for your space or wherever you want to use it!
A quick add-on to my earlier comment: I just updated the weight loss ticker on my space. I've lost 3 lbs this week!!
Goals for myself include:
1. To stay off the smokes. To tackle each day as it comes and remain smoke-free. To constantly remind myself that I am a nonsmoker. And never mourn the death of the little green nicotine monster that's been dwelling inside of me for over half my life!! (Thank you Tozansha!! That helped.)
2. To develop and stick to a jogging/training schedule.
3. To start doing my pilates/yoga dvd's 4-5 times a week.
4. To lose at least 1-2 pounds a week. More would be better... but, I'm struggling to balance my need to be realistic against my generally impatient personality.
5. Longterm goal: To wear a size 6. Why? Because my overall size and the way I feel in my clothes matters more to me than the # on my scales.
6. To start and continue leading a healthier lifestyle. To be more active, have more energy, and be all-around healthier. To remember to take care of myself.
7. To continue working each and every day toward making all of my dreams come true.
Congratulations to Heidi - who lost 5 lbs this week.Yahooooooo!!!!!
Jogging update: Managed approximately 1 1/2 miles tonight, mostly walking with a few minutes of jogging mixed in. My shins are aching, but my breathing was better than what I feared it would be.
Jogging update: Went same distance today. 1 1/2 miles. But... jogged twice as much today as yesterday... less walking!
Jogging: Day 3: Same distance today... which turns out to be 1 3/5 of a mile (or 8/10 of a mile one way) - someone check my math on that? If 1/2 of the distance is 8/10 or 4/5 of a mile.. how far is the total distance? Same jogging to walking ratio, but we covered the same distance in less time. Discovered how hard it can be to breath while jogging if the wind is blowing.. whew!
Midweek weighin: -2 lbs.
Jogging: Day 4: Same distance. Same ratio jogging:walking. Faster pace. Able to talk more easily... less out of breath! Almost ready to jog more & walk less.
Had someone ask me along the way.. 'What made you join her?' "her" referring to my friend that has jogged this same route for a long time and is now coaching me along. My response?? "I quit smoking. So, I decided I wanted to learn how to breath again!"
Each day it's easier to get out there and do it!
Physical craving for cigs is GONE! Mental craving getting very rare.
Jogging: Day 5: Same distance. Same ratio walking:jogging. Faster pace. Carved an additional 35 seconds off of our total time. Less leg pain.. catching my breath faster after jogging. "Coach" tells me we should skip the weekend because my legs are still hurting some, and she says better to take two days off than for me to hurt myself and have to take an even longer break. Plan to be back full force Monday though.. and still do Pilates over the weekend.
Mini celebration.. One week since I smoked. Yea!! Drove a long distance today, alone. One of the times I am most susceptible to wanting to smoke, but when I felt the urge, I just thought about jogging and instantly my mind said 'no'. I don't want to mess that up.
Update - July 4th
Goals for this week?
1. Less Coke. More water.
2. Jog 2+ miles 5-6 days.
3. Pilates/Yoga daily.
Updates:
Another week without smoking!! That makes it four weeks or one month.
Jogged nearly four miles today. Two miles AM + two miles PM. Not my average day, but it felt good!!
My scales finally moved!! Lost 3 lbs last week.
New goals for myself?
Run my first 3K at Halloween time! Begin relying on measurements and clothing sizes to gauge my results. Keep up with the water intake. (been doing good there!) Keep ignoring my scales... they lie!! oh, yeah.. & try and remember to eat enough. lol.
So. My goals for this week:
1. To journal everything that I eat & drink everyday: Goal 1400 calories a day, 50% carbs + 25% protein + 25% healthy fats.
2. To reach 3 miles a day jogging by the end of the week: At 2 1/2+ now.
3. To take my measurements so that I have a 2nd way of gauging my progress.
4. Pilates or yogalates every day.
Okay.. so here I go! Yea Monday.
